The date is September 29th 1979, the night prior to the Pope’s visit to Limerick. It is also the night Batty Spender, a local sacristan, tackles his demons. He has seen a lot of things he shouldn’t have seen, heard a lot that he shouldn’t have heard and he needs to tell someone.

Micheál Lovett | Playwright
Micheál Lovett is a co-founder of Blood in the Alley Theatre Company. Lovett is a Stewart Parker nominated playwright whose work has been produced both nationally and internationally. Lovett’s work produced by Blood in the Alley includes Jumping The Sharks and Tricky. This Ebony Bird was originally produced by Blood in the Alley in 2006 in association with Cork Opera House.

Denis Foley | Actor
Denis Foley trained at Trinity College. This will be the second time he has performed as part of the West Cork Fit-up Theatre Festival. His first appearance was back in 2009 when he performed alongside Don Wycherley in Blood in the Alley’s production of Conal Creedon’s When I was God.

Anthony Morris | Actor
Anthony Morris is from Wexford. He is a graduate of Trinity College. Some of his recent theatre and TV roles include: Romeo & Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Game of Thrones and Ripper Street.

Fiona Condon | Actor
Fiona Condon is an award winning actress, a native of Cork City and a graduate of English and History from UCC. Her most memorable roles include: Slaughterhouse Swan, Rosie Mae in The Daisy Chain and Garda Eileen Daly in Damage.
